Shashel Park

I had to take some students on a trip last night, to Castle Park and then we went to Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor. What a trip! Did you know Farrell's sells a creation called the Zoo that includes 30 scoops of ice cream? Sign me up!

All the participants were a great group, and it was clear that they all hung out together often, so it was fun with them. I always enjoy any cross-cultural exchange and loved watching it in our diverse group last night as well (Mexico, France, Singapore, Vietnam and Korea). My favorite part is listening to them converse with each other, speakers of different first languages conversing together in a third non-native language and making themselves understood. It's especially adorable when someone has picked up slang the other doesn't know and they try to explain it.

Farrell's was way too energetic for me. Tons of celebrations and drums and singing and sirens and fire. You know those videos of crazy hyper dogs going nuts and running around and there's a baffled cat sitting in the corner completely still and looking shocked and confused that this dog is so damn nutty? Well last night, Farrell's was the dog and I was the cat. Lololol. BUT, the ice cream was deeeeelish.

It was also endearing at how baffled my students were at tipping. They knew we should tip, but they were completely dumbfounded by how it worked with tipping when you pay with a debit or credit card.

Welcome to America.
