Kitty Laundry

AJ and I got our new washing machine (FINALLY!) and omg, what a blessing. We have been GOING TO TOWN with laundry, and the past 2 days it's basically been a nonstop rotation of laundry, which means we've sorta been folding as available, and just putting them on the bartop, which is where we now find Khaleesi, all the time. Last night, we were watching Bill Nye Saves The World (love it!) while I was taking out laundry, and I know the kitty loves the warm clothes (or in this instance, pillowcases) so I just folded them and stacked them on top of her and she seemed to loveeee it.

It was sad when I was done and ready to put the pillowcases back, when I took them off of her she was very upset and meowing at me. Tough break, kitty! But she sure is cute.

LUCA ANDREW

I remember all the time growing up and my sisters and I would always argue about who had to have kids first, so that the rest of us could be aunts. Well I'm happy to say that I won that argument and I'm officially Aunty Kiki now!

Heather went in to be induced on Wednesday night, and I was next to my phone all day Thursday waiting for the word to go to the hospital, but everything was really slow. After work I went to my friend's place nearby the hospital to hang out until something was actually going to happen, and we got word on the planned C-section so I texted AJ and we met at the hospital.

When we got there, Heather had got taken back for the operation, my mom came and got us, and just when we walked into the suite where Justin's family was waiting, they announced that the baby had been born and that Justin had texted them a picture from the operating room. So this was the first glimpse of him!

Officially he was born April 26, 2017 at 8:15PM, 7lbs even and 20 inches long.

We hung out and waited until the new parents came back to the suite, and here's AJ trying to make the isolation robes look cool...

Then, Justin came in wheeling the baby, followed by Heather on her bed.

It was the most insanely surreal thing to experience a baby of your own blood! I'm not instinctively into babies, but it's my own nephew and it was so surreal! It's Heather's baby and she just had it, and seeing him for the first time was incredible!

We left shortly after to give them their bonding time, and AJ and I went to the cafe to eat, then we came back up to wait for our turn to go in and take turns holding him. While waiting down the hall we could occasionally hear him crying, which was sooooo weirdddd and amazing to hear his cries from down the hall. He's like a real little human!

I had today off work too so I got to go back to the hospital and hold Luca some more. He doesn't seem to cry too much, which is great haha. I'm still in complete shock and can't even believe that he's real and that he's my nephew!

I can't believe how much I love a baby now, I'm not a baby person. What an insane difference it makes when it's your own blood!

Unicorns. Comedy. Pearo+Gary. Padres. Priya.

I had an eventful life since last Thursday. First of all, my boss and I broke up our 3p slump by going and getting unicorn frappuccinos from Starbucks. Wow did we feel basic. And I don't even care. I really liked it. So sue me.

On Friday night, we went to the Irvine Improv to celebrate a friend's birthday. The comedian, Gad Elmaleh, is actually a Moroccan comedian I knew from my French classes, where we watched a lot of his movies, since growing up in the Maghreb he spoke French and was big in French culture. AJ and I had watched his stand-up on Netflix and really enjoyed it, and everyone else really liked him on Friday too!

On Saturday morning, AJ and I were hungover and slow moving and were very late heading down to San Diego, but made it just in time to leave our car at Rob & Raf's and then Uber to La Jolla for Pearo's wedding, which was just beautiful on the La Jolla cliffs! It was fabulous and we had a great time celebrating Pearo & Gary! Raf was in the wedding and Rob even officiated! I loved it.

We crashed at Rob & Raf's that night, and in the morning, I went on a run, and then AJ and I went and got El Zarape lunch (mmmm) and then went and got tickets to the Padres/Marlins game and sat in the Park at the Park with beers (michelada for me mmmm) and I even took a nap.

We went to Big 5 to buy AJ some kneepads for our volleyball league since he's struggling without those, and then went to Pam & Doug's to have dinner with them, Doug's parents and PRIYA!! who was in town from Chicago that I hadn't seen for over a year!! It was too short but it was totally worth staying to see her and catch up a bit. So now a visit to Chicago may be in our near future since I can't go another full year without seeing her again!

Here was Gordon waiting for his dinner. Ha.

Busy week for me this week, looking forward to an upcoming weekend of nothing!

CATSCATSCATS

AJ and I like walking Anana to Petsmart. It's just a few blocks away, she gets some exercise, gets to come inside, and usually gets a treat too! We like to go by the cats up for adoption too and see their reactions to Anana. (We also fell in love with one and almost adopted it but then saw it was declawed, so we couldn't make it work) and there was an orange kitty that was highly offended by Anana lololol and this kitty that was sleeping in the litter box! I don't know why but I thought that was cute.

I love this picture my mom sent me of her cat Tommen in my old flower box, it's like it's growing cats instead!

Last night I was just out of the shower and Khaleesi was outside the bathroom door meowing and meowing. I let her in and picked her up and put her on the counter so I could pet her while I brushed my hair, and then she curled up in the sink! I just loved it! I've never had a cat do that (that I've seen) and I always wanted one that did!

Supposed today is National Cat Lady Day. I'm not sure how many national days there are or who comes up with them, but this certainly was timely.

Hoppy Easter

That "hoppy" has more than one innuendo from this weekend...! AJ went to San Francisco for the weekend, so my weekend started on Friday with the place to myself! Anana was already picked up for the weekend though, so it was just me and the kitty and it was basically getting the living room TV to myself, gouging myself on chocolate from my Easter basket from AJ's mom and going to bed early. Wild.

On Saturday I went down to the Mission Valley Craft Brew Festival in San Diego to meet up with Marisa and her friends, coming from Riverside, to celebrate Marisa's birthday. It was all free beer and free food and a pretty warm day!

After that, I went to Pam & Doug's and we ordered in, had grapefruit martinis, watched Rogue One and then an endless parade of Saturday Night Lives. It was amazing.

On Sunday morning I went for a run and then came back to have coffee on their deck and watch the planes fly in, and then we relaxed around the house and then headed to Doug's parents' place for their big Easter celebration.

It was a fun time, lots of mojitos, and our egg hunt! They give us each half an egg carton to find 6 eggs each. The best part is that, every year, Debbie puts some eggs in the bottom of the pool, and this time, Fern went for those first, so he set his egg carton down and then Pam's dog Monty grabbed it and was running around with the egg carton, which looked like she was hunting for eggs too. It was soooo cute!

We had a wonderful dinner that had me uncomfortably full by the end, and we got to leave with beautiful, elaborate "adult" Easter baskets, with sangria and wine glasses and chocolate! Soooo cute!

My drive home was pretty rough, even leaving at 8pm, so much traffic, I was full, sleepy and getting annoyed but I had the S-Town podcast to listen to. I don't really "get" this podcast and don't think it's that great, but at least it was something to keep my attention for over 2 hours!

Mental Health Day

I had a mental health day on Wednesday, and boy did I use it right. I only made the mistake of checking work email once... which sent me back into the spiral of why I needed the mental health day in the first place. Ha. I didn't do work, not even around the house, because I just needed a day of nothing. So I slept, read, had coffee, watched Friends, and then got to take Banana to the beach before going back home and changing for the gym, then meeting AJ's family for dinner.

Happy Anana, happy to see me. Annoyed Khaleesi, annoyed
I came home lololol
Can you tell Anana isn't always entertained by my needs for photo shoots?? Lulz.

It was such a perfect day, it's what I imagine being a trophy wife must be like... you know when you don't have to work and just get to do whatever and don't have kids to be chasing around. Lulz. Man, if only!
