Sophie is Sleeping!

Things are different over here - in the best way possible! God I hope I don't jinx it, and I absolutely hate the thought of the regressions that come later (like 8 months and 12 months), but we have made leaps and bounds of progression lately.

Sophie spent the night in her crib in her own room for the first time on Sunday night. I was really sad about it, and part of me wanted to cry, but part of me loved having the light on the bedroom at night and being able to watch TV in bed, relaxing like it was a hotel room again. She has done AMAZING both nights, AND her naps have been great too! Instead of 40 minutes of crying, or even 10 minutes of crying, she basically goes down right away, or is done crying before we're out of the room. Life is new again. Of course, doesn't mean things like below still don't happen...!

Why do other people always take better pictures of my baby than I can take myself? AJ's Aunt Dawn was over to hang out and deliver a bunch of clothes that she bought for Sophie and took this little gem.

And gotta document all the llamas in her life (which is everything) including this cute little shirt.

That's all from us lately. Things are starting to open up and we're feeling better and I'm looking forward to being able to take her to some classes and other things soon. It's starting to feel like "real" life with a baby and that's definitely new, I still don't know how it works.

Mother's Day & Sophie Eats Solids

I've been simultaneously looking forward and dreading Sophie turning 6 months. On the one hand - yay! On the other hand... time to start solids (mostly yay!) but that means her poop is about to go waaaay downhill, and I've been okay with putting that off. Ha.

We did her little 6 month photo shoot last Saturday and even though she's definitely growing out of some clothes, I didn't notice much difference between this one and her five month photos.

Still kute tho!

We also got our first outing since having Sophie... kind of. (We did go out for dessert alone for about an hour on our anniversary while Debbie watched her, but for some reason that doesn't feel like it really counts!) But my mom came over to watch Sophie while we went out for dinner in Laguna Beach. It was nice, fresh salt air and also, with things opening up, it was feeling kinda good again. Here was her having fun with Gangy!

I had a great first Mother's Day, but it was also very weird and surreal to be on the other side of it! But AJ made us breakfast and I got gifts galore, his dad brought me a bouquet of roses, and we had an evening trip to Newport Beach and had some pretty delicious Greek food. It was a nice day with my husband and my baby, and that's all I really wanted!

We also put together her high chair and tried solids for the first time. We just made a little baby oatmeal for her. I couldn't believe how easily and how well she took to it! As soon as we put her in the high chair, she was SO HAPPY. She was seriously BEAMING, she looked so proud and excited to be in a big chair herself, it was so adorable. We didn't have to coerce her or fake eat it ourselves or anything. She was into it right away and was taking the spoon from us immediately.

With these little traits being being noticeable and coming out, it makes me wonder about her personality and what she'll be like - will she be super independent and adventurous? Or is she just quick to tackle new skills fearlessly? So far, she gets so much more fun the older she gets. (I say so far because I'm pretty sure there's a time you'll want them to be younger, like when those teenage years hit ha!)

Happy Birthday Luca

We had almost a normal weekend this past weekend! Between celebrating Luca's 4th birthday with a party, and having some vaccinated friends over on Sunday, I almost forgot coronavirus ravaged our lives. Almost.

Sophie also got to spend more time with her great-grandmother, which is always such a treat!

Ready to head out to her cousin's party

Sunday Funday

Oh and she also recently had her first trip to Costco. She was chill the whole time, just sitting and looking around, checking it all out.

And she outgrew her bassinet like a week and a half ago! With her rolling skills, she didn't have room in there anymore, so the pack and play is now in our room until we grow the spine to move her to her own room.

I had her playing in there while I got ready on Sunday and saw her being super cute playing with the hanging stars.

Debbie is coming back at the end of this month and I am counting down the days to having another set of hands around here!
