Happy Halloween

I really must be Halloween poison or something because no one ever seems to get my costumes! Jessica and I were our Russian alter egos, Natasha and Svetlana in the form of matryoshka, aka Russian nesting dolls.

Some people just thought we were babushkas, and others thought we were Raggedy Ann? Huh? I guess we really needed more like 3-4 minimum to dress up like us for the nesting doll concept to be really obvious. Maybe next time!

I had to go to a meeting with the Night King (crazy awkward)

Tonight, if I can squeeze it all in, I plan on handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters with the World Series, Hocus Pocus, and Stranger Things!

Halloween Party

Last Saturday, AJ and I co-hosted a pretty sweet Halloween party with our neighbors, who are obsessed with Halloween. We moved out all of our cars and sectioned up the driveway and used that as our main floor for the bar, snacks, dancing, jenga and beer pong, and had both houses open for everyone to wander between. It was really fun, and we had lighting and fog machines and everything.

I was a dalmatian, Serena was Pam from the Office when she
dresses up as a cat, and Iris was Minnie Mouse... so we
coincidentally were a dog, cat and mouse!

Her reflectors glowed blue in the blacklight
and made her look like a white walker from
Game of Thrones

Khaleesi's costume was her business cat
collar and tie
It was a really fun time! We were all dressed up... AJ was the fireman, I was a dalmatian, Anana was a referee, and Khaleesi was a business cat, ha. I did have a friend come up to me and ask "So are you a regular cow or like a Chik-Fil-A cow?" So I guess I need to retire the whole thing haha. I made that shirt last year and glued the felt onto the shirt without putting it on so I didn't realize how cow-like it looked oh wellsies.

Our party didn't end until about 3am, and poor Anana was drained. You could tell she was exhausted but she wouldn't leave so she followed me around and collapsed everywhere. This was her the next morning.

The day after was the  most glorious fall day ever. Overcast and chilly. We cleaned up the entire party and then AJ and I laid in the living room under blankets, reading and sipping coffee and nursing our hangovers. By the evening we weren't much further removed, and had two TVs set up to accommodate both the Steeler's game at the Astros/Dodgers World Series Game 5.

Game 5 was insane!!! Who has ever seen so many gd scores and home runs in baseball before??? I'm convinced everyone is roided out. But anyways, I'm totally going for the Astros and so stoked on their lead. Game 6 tomorrow! Let's go Cameron Maybin!

Halloween Preparation

Yesterday was an eventful Wednesday for me, considering my normal routine. First of all I had tap class, which is fun, but the routine is that my coworker comes to my place, we have drinks and I drive us to class. We left work a little early (oops) and had a little more time at my house than normal, which led to a little more drinks (oops) over Mulan on Netflix, and we showed up to tap class a little red-faced and working really hard on our time steps.

I had forgotten that our neighbors had invited us to carve pumpkins with them and some of their friends, so I had to get AJ on board and then ran out to Trader Joe's to panic-buy two pumpkins for us.

We had such a nice time carving our pumpkins together while watching Cameron Maybin shine so brightly for the Houston Astros!

The craziesttttt part of all? Everyone worked diligently on their pumpkins to themselves, and no one knew what anyone was doing. The neighbors and their friends all made jack-o'lantern faces, but I am bad at that so I went with a kitty looking at the moon and stars cut out elsewhere. AJ was quietly in the corner going to town on his, and finally Jackie says "AJ you're so quiet over there, what are you doing?" and he had just finished his up and turned it around to show us...

He made a howling wolf! I thought this was incredible because we didn't discuss this in any capacity but we basically each drew our pets. My coworker says we're too obsessed with our children lololol.

It was funnnn and here was a random picture I caught of Anana terrorizing Khaleesi with her friendship.

This morning AJ showed Anana his pumpkin, trying to show her it was her and she was very intrigued and sniffing all around it and it was super cuteeeeee.

I'm not a big Halloween person but I'm really enjoying it this year. Maybe because our neighbors are so into it and getting us into it?

Arcade Fyre Festival

Omggggg last Friday, AJ and I and some friends of ours went up to LA to see Arcade Fire perform at The Forum. It was insanely amazing. We got a hotel nearby so we went early to hang out and then Ubered to the venue. We had floor seats and had sooo much fun. Good God do they put on a good show and good God are they amazing!!! I feel like it's been awhile since I've been to such a good concert!

That was Kathleen

That was the highlight of the weekend. The rest of the weekend was a little bit of a hungover blur, but I did find this great Sunday nap still via the Petcube...

Even Anana was lazy as hell in the crazy
heat. She wanted to play with her bone
but wouldn't lift her head up haha

I have such a case of the Mondays today. And it's soooo hotttttt!!! 100 today and 103 tomorrow seriously wtf!! I like the heat but only in it's season. I'm sooooo over it, it's the end of October make it stahhhhhhhhp

Early Christmas

Christmas came early this year! My BFF Jayna is coming out to California, so I won't have to go an entire 2017 without seeing her, and AJ and I set a date!

Our wedding is not until late 2018 though, so it feels soooo farrrrr away! This may be the first time in my life I have looked forward to even holiday time passing so that we can get to next year. I'm trying to enjoy our engagement (and I do!) but there's so much to look forward to, it feels impossible to not wish time away!

This year also flew by, ironically. I always feel like "wait, did we celebrate AJ's birthday? What happened to my birthday? Did we even get Memorial Day?" it's cray-cray. And now it's hard to believe we're so thick into Halloweentime, and this time next month will already be days away from Thanksgiving. Sheesh.

Tom Petty & Las Vegas

The Las Vegas shooting almost isn't even shocking. These stupid things are happening every day and it'll just be a few days until the next one I suppose. It's so frustrating, especially given that we are more or less the only country where this happens regularly. Although it did hit a little close to home since I know some people who were there and I know people who know people who were killed. Can everyone stop with the shooting?!

And then there was the blow of Tom Petty. I LOVE TOM PETTY!!! He was really one of my favorites. I remember when I was on a roll of listening to all classic rock in high school and I heard Breakdown and didn't know who sang it at the time, so I called Mat and left an voicemail marked urgent asking him to please tell me who sang that song. I got on a Tom Petty kick.

I WAS EVEN LISTENING TO HIM THIS PAST WEEKEND. I'd also been on a kick of being obsessed with both Refugee and Here Comes My Girl.

I even got to see him in New York City at the Beacon Theatre. It was the only show I saw at the NYC Beacon Theatre.

Both of these tragedies have interrupted my usual morning radio programs, which has been so annoying. I hate that we have to keep breaking for tragedies!

Here's to better times ahead.
