Family Time, So Much Family Time

Sophie attended her first birthday party, for 5-year-old Penelope on Memorial Day. It was a fun unicorn theme with a water bouncer and while we were excited to get Sophie in the water to play for the first time, when the big kids finally were out, the water left was pretty gross so we nixed it in the end ha. We still had fun introducing her to all of our other friends' kids and busting out her sunglasses for the first time!

This weekend was the ultimate weekend for family, I forgot what that was like to get together and see to people!

On Friday we actually took Sophie to her very first music class. It was super cute! I know, what do babies do with a music class? But it was guided and really fun and Sophie was interested, even if she was pretty serious about the whole experience.

And then of course she just looks cute, as usual, especially in that outfit with the strawberry on the butt! (Not sure you can really see it though)

On Saturday we had a small barbecue with my family over. AJ, who insists on smoking meat constantly ever since we inherited a smoker from his best friend, was smoking pork belly when he almost burned down our house. The grease pans gave way, flames were high and coming out from everywhere, we couldn't control it, the river of grease was flowing from the smoker directly to the propane tanks, and between AJ insisting he could handle it and trying to make sure Sophie was okay, I called the fire department. Although we all agreed in the end that it was the right decision, of course the fire was out by the time they got here LOL. We have since invested in a fire extinguisher.

Sophie had so much fun watching Luca run around and be crazy, and she also had some of the sweetest moments interacting with Enzo as they smiled at each other. I thought her matching bonnet was adorable, but she was the subject of endless Little House on the Prairie and churning butter jokes ha

Then on Sunday, it wasn't even really planned, but AJ's family ended up coming over, which was nice for them to all be here together, which hadn't happened yet. She had a great time with them all and having Auntie Ana feed her (she's so good at it now!)

And of course, here she is just being cute, cause she is.

She is so close to crawling - she already army crawls around, and is getting up on those hands and knees and rocking back and forth. The doctor told us she would be an early crawler and I'm not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand nooooo we don't want to chase after her everywhere... but on the other hand, she just wants to go everywhere right now and gets frustrated that she can't be there and whines a lot, so that's annoying... but I'm not entirely sure the crawling will solve that, because all she wants is stuff that she can't have. So that's our life right about now.
