Memorial Day Weekend

What a weekend. I'm tired. I always need an extra day to recover, especially after a 3-day weekend.

On Friday I drove down to San Diego to help Priya finish up with her condo and moving and seeing her off with her mom on Saturday morning. (Talk about SADFACE). She handed off the key to Rob and Raf's (who were in the Bahamas!) and I went to their place, pretty exhausted after sleeping on a couch and waking up at 7a to work and clean, and planned to take a nap, but after my circuit training workout and nail painting, it was already time to pick up AJ at the train station. I met him at Old Town, we did a grocery run for the weekend, and basically had enough time to go back to change for Becca's wedding.

The wedding was at the marina, which was beautiful, if a bit chilly, and the reception was so much fun! Despite only knowing two other people from college, our table was actually really fun! And a photobooth helped of course.

When it was time for the bouquet toss, I was sitting it out. I told AJ, I am so sick of those and so over it! I'm sitting it out! But he insisted that I go up there, after all, all I had to do was stand there with my drink. So I did. But then I actually caught the bouquet, much to AJ's surprise. "All you had to do was stand there!" but I told him "I can't help it my instincts kicked in!" Ha!

It was an open bar which was fun. AJ was driving us home, and we got to the car and realized my keys were not in my purse, which was terrifying because even if we did just cab it back, the only house key was also attached. We split up, and AJ won because he found them on the table while I was still searching the outdoor ceremony grass barefoot.

Well the next day was USELESS because we are 29-year-olds who had hangovers, aka we can't hang anymore. I think we got to downtown around 3p, ate, went around shopping for a little bit, decided to go back to nap before we went to the movies, and ended up falling asleep on the couch watching Jumanji and waking up around 2a with the TV still on. Classy!

On Sunday we went to brunch in a dreary drizzle in North Park and then fulfilled one of my LIFE GOALS by going to The Cat Cafe! My dream has been to visit a Cat Cafe, and I had been telling AJ about how one opened up in NYC just after I left, so I was googling it to show him and saw there was one in San Diego! MIND. BLOWN.

It was so cute! I was trying to figure out how to open up my own cat cafe in Riverside, but still haven't developed that business model just yet...

Then we went to Coronado. Then I brought AJ to my favorite bar (Bar Basic) while we killed time until his train back. Then he missed his train. So we hung out for another two hours at Karl Strauss and he let me wear his Rolex and we worked on our future band.

I was very sleepy when I finally got home, and my little Khaleesi gets so needy after I've been away so she was very active and obnoxious and even woke me up in the morning. And this week will still be verrrrry busy. Sigh.

Is it summer yet??

Mission Inn Funtivity

Last weekend, despite the rain, my boyfriend and I decided to have a funtivity in Riverside. We dressed up and went for sushi and then drinks at the Mission Inn. There was a prom happening at the same time and the prom queen had to wait in line behind me lololol.

I hate asking people to take pictures, so I appreciate the selfies, only the front-facing camera has no flash and is grainy, so these are awful, but he is kute so I figured it was worth posting.

(The first three were taken in the Presidential Lounge bar, which is why it's so dark, and the last was in the foyer on Taft's Chair... which he was unimpressed with. His exact words were: "It was just a guy" lolololol)

kthxbye.

Turned Corner

I recently decided to change my life. It's weird, cause it was mid-week. Usually I need to mentally prepare myself for a few months and then pick a Monday. But I just decided yesterday, and today I'm 2 for 2.

I am so tired of constantly running late places! And especially to work. I live a 5-10 minute drive away, still hit the snooze constantly and am then rushing around, stressed on the drive, and still coming in 15 minutes late. It is ridiculous. Plus, it was superficially based too. Looking nice or getting ready takes time, and I had the time, but I wasn't using it. So I finallyyyyy decided to change my ways.

I set my alarm EARLIER and am not hitting the snooze constantly. I can get ready leisurely, I can play with the Khaleesi, I can drive to work normally and not get angry at every red light and slow car ahead of me. Is this what growing up feels like? We'll see how long it lasts for anyway, old habits die hard.

Also, yesterday was Free Cone Day at Haagen-Dazs, of which, there is one right where I work. I forgot about it until I was leaving and saw a line of 3 people thick stretching literally as far as I could see until it wrapped around a corner. It looked miserable and I wondered what the hell those students were thinking. Then I remembered, it wasn't that long ago I was all about those freebies and nothing was too inconvenient to save a few dollars for. Now, I just felt like I would rather pay double to be able to go when it was empty and not have to wait in line. And that's really a sign of my times.

In other news, there is a bird I've seen around my place for awhile, no idea what kind it is, but recently I started noticing that it actually TAUNTS Khaleesi. I was out on my porch reading the other evening and I noticed that this bird was actually following Khaleesi around the yard, perching nearby and then chirping incessantly at her.

I wish Khaleesi was a real cat and would just catch the damn thing, but she's just a scaredy cat that kept running away everywhere. That will have to be her corner to turn.

Mother's Day and Khaleesi's Day

What a busy weekend with the High Tea and Mother's Day (which turned into a 3 hour backbreaking session of painting at Color Me Mine). Good thing we all finished our pieces around the same time.

And then today is the Khaleesi's 2nd birthday! What a kitty! She got a bow and two candles in her Fancy Feast today (which she did not appreciate).

What a kitty! Happy Birthday, Birthday Kitty!

#DeathByKayla

Thanks to my cousin Brianna, I came to learn about Kayla Itsines via Instagram, an Australian personal trainer with some crazyyyyy (and quite inspiring!) client transformations from using her 12-week workout and nutrition guide.

Long story short, Brianna sent me the guides and I finally started it in April. Then Coachella came along and I got so off track and just waiting for the motivation again. And here it is!

Starting on Monday, May 4, I went into the 12 week training again. Good news is that so far I am 2 for 2 days on sticking with it again. (Last time I think it was 2 1/2 weeks before I got off track) and I reallyyyyy want to complete it!

We should all be counting down the days to Sunday, July 26 when it is finally completed. (It's like, 82 by the way).

#FIGHTNIGHT

Everything was #FIGHTNIGHT this weekend from Saturday onwards. Saturday itself was breakfast making and eating it on the front porch right before going to lunch with bf's family oops. THEN I was on the road to San Diego.

Everything #FIGHTNIGHT, which, according to Pam, translates to white trash? So we go over to Justin and Colleen's place to watch the fight and we all take some warm-up shots, and Colleen gives Kylie her own (WATER) shot to join in.

The only problem was that Kylie reallyyyyy liked it, and kept refilling her shotglass to keep taking shots. (Colleen replaced it with a teacup shortly after!)

We got ready for the fight and boy was Kylie into that!

After the snoozefest fight (and all of us minus 1 were going for Pacquiao aka Pacquiano aka Pasqualino) it turned into a DANCE PARTY.

Also, since it was a going away for Priya, we played Priya Trivia, aka Privia, and all of us were armed with a noise maker to "buzz in" to answer the question, aka one of Kylie's toys. This was fun because Rafael had a toy boombox that had to play an entire song before it shut off and it lasted usually well until the next question so we all had to sit around and wait for the song to finish before Pam could read the next question. I had a toy laptop that also had a problem with going too long so I would shut it off and just power it on to buzz in, and when that became too much and it was just off, I told them I couldn't use Kylie's laptop because it had to install updates and Doug just thought that was the funniest thing, he was practically squealing, haha!

The dance party went until about 3a, and I definitely ended up passed out on the couch long before that.

The next day, Priya and I went with Pam and Doug and Doug's parents to Ponte Winery as an early Mother's Day for Doug's mom Debbie since she would be out of town next weekend. It was such a beautiful day! Warm and breezy and clear and not too hot. We did wine tasting in the Member's section (that's Pam, not me), had lunch there, and went back and wine tasted more until we shut the place down. It was pretty perfect since it was halfway home for me anyway.

Priya literally said it was the most pleasant day of her life. I'll take it! We also all got into a huge discussion on the Cycle of Saturn. I thought that was worthwhile too.

I had planned to get a lot of things done in the evening, but my power nap turned into... not a power nap and I was pretty much done for the night (I blame the wine) so that was the weekend.
