Thirty and Thermolized

Fun fact: I googled "adjectives that start with th" to help with this post and thermolized was the first one I saw, so that's what we get. Ha!

BIRTHDAY WAS SO MUCH FUNNNNNN!

AJ and I were due to leave first thing Saturday morning, so I was staying Friday night at his place since his aunt would be driving us to the airport, but he surprised me Friday night with a birthday dinner in Huntington Beach with his friends, after which we even went bar hopping! (This is not something we typically do, so this was a huge event for us haha) and I was so surprised!

Here's how I know that I was turning 30... I woke up Saturday morning feeling hungover with a major headache. AJ and I got to the airport and I wanted an Irish coffee but the bar didn't have coffee, so we both got Bloody Marys to start the day.

I was exhausted and fell asleep on AJ immediately. I wanted that power nap!

I woke up feeling not great at all, and on the descent of our 58-minute flight, puked up in my barf bag over AJ's lap.

I felt so horrible - the plane was silent and I'm sure that everyone around could not only hear me heaving, but also hear all the liquid Bloody Mary vomit pool into the bag too lolololol. Welp.

We landed and took a cab straight into Bellagio, our home for the weekend. We headed straight out to meet up with Pam & Doug at Treasure Island since they were checking out in order to check in with us. As we walked through the Bellagio Casino, we stopped at the first bar for AJ to get a beer and a shot of Fireball and I finally got that Irish coffee. We were appalled when the tab was over $40. Sure Vegas is expensive (and Bellagio of all places!) but why would you ever pay so much for drinks when you get them for free while gambling?! As we were walking out we passed the High Rollers Club - I suggested we hit that up first, and I would just bet my Irish coffee on a hand, since it was so expensive! Hahahaha I crack myself up.

We met up with Pam & Doug and went to the shops nearby because AJ was buying me designer sunglasses for my bday! We got Starbucks and Chipotle (mmmmm) and then headed out to the Mountain West championship game - SDSU v Fresno State. Pam bought me an SDSU shirt for my 30th which I threw over that dress. It was quite the look, ha!

The last time SDSU won was 2011 against BYU. They are in the finals every damn year, but haven't won since then! We weren't sweating a thing going into this game. But it came down to the last 2 minutes and Fresno State won. It was sad. Our solution was to drink our sorrows away, which was a mistake. We ended up pretty down for the count when all was said and done. We got back to Bellagio very late, Pam passed out, then AJ, Doug and I went to eat at the Bellagio Cafe. AJ and I were going to go gamble afterwards, but AJ ended up feeling so bad that we all just called it a night after that ha!

The morning was fabulous. We all woke up feeling incredibly rested and refreshed. We had more or less all day to spend together, and we started with morning shots, as one does! We all partook in my metallic temporary tattoos, we made the guys put small arrow tattoos in their wrists for solidarity.

We went out on the strip to find food, and then hit up O'Shea's in the Linq where we had a darn good time playing Blackjack at our own table... although we got a few friends in the extra seat occasionally. One guy sat down, went all in, and proceeded to be dealt blackjack!! It was incredible! I made my money last for a long time (at one time I had, as I described it, "three mountains of chips") but ended up down $60. So rude, Vegas!

Pam & I hijacked these "Happy Birthday"
necklaces from Rafael's party for me to
wear in Vegas!

Then we got a pitcher and played beer pong! AJ and I won. Obviiiii! What does it say about me that I was getting annoyed with all the drunk people and sick of chasing the ping pong balls everywhere?? Oh wellsies. By this time we had to get Pam & Doug out to the airport (don't forget we lost an hour this night - ughhhh) so we headed back to Bellagio. After our friendys left, AJ and I took a power nap, and woke up around 9:10p, wondering if we should hit up a show. Long story short, somehow we got ready, caught a cab, and made it down to Mandalay Bay in time to buy tickets for the 9:30 showing of Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson One in time! It was sooooo fun. And I learned that AJ is crazy into Michael Jackson. I mean, why would you not be? But it was news to me. The show wasn't as "Cirque'y" as normal, I would qualify it more of an elaborate dance performance/ MJ tribute, but it was still pretty awesome to watch, and the MJ music was just so darn awesome, I wanted to get up and dance the whole darn time. And btw, there was a man with one leg performing in Cirque du Soleil. I'm not even kidding. From then on I would tell AJ, "There is a one-legged man performing in Cirque du Soleil. Your argument is invalid." Ha! There were no cameras/phones allowed, but at the end, everyone was pulling them out and no one cared. So I caught this.

AJ and I were planning to go to Light, Mandalay Bay's nightclub, but it wasn't open. I know it was Sunday night, but it's still Vegas! So we decided to pursue my life's gift to myself, which is that I get to eat Panda Express on my birthday weekend only every year. We headed down the Strip towards the eatery near MGM Grand, passing by Luxor, and buying some beers in Excalibur, and finding some nice viewpoints near New York New York.

We were counting down the minutes to midnight and I told AJ, "All I want in life right now, is to turn 30 while I'm eating Panda Express in Vegas." And guess what kids? DREAMS DO COME TRUE.

This was literally at midnight on Monday, March 14, 2016. It was a happy moment.

We continued our trek back to Bellagio through Aria and Cosmopolitan. AJ had no choice but to acquiesce to my photographic demands since I was now birthday girl! :D

As we got to Bellagio I was realizing I still had a pretty good birthday rush going and I didn't want to go to bed. We found out The Bank in Bellagio was opened on Sunday night. I wasn't really interested in paying a huge cover, and AJ wasn't interested in waiting in line, but I just wanted to see.

I went up to the bouncer and said that we were staying in Bellagio and just wanted to know what the cover was. He told us that if we had our room keys and ID he could let us in right there for free. AJ and I were astounded. Not only at skipping the line and no cover, but how friendly and helpful the bouncer was. If you've ever done the Vegas club scene you know that not only is the whole situation infuriatingly condescending elitist and annoying, but this NEVER happens. AJ and I perked up immediately. Seriously, AJ was grinning ear to ear. And then the ID check even wished me a happy birthday! I LOVE when they notice and I LOVE when they say something!! I was down to just dance a few songs, but AJ was all about buying us drinks and hanging out on the dance floor since all his favorite songs were coming on.

Aside from starting to get too hot and sweaty, and getting annoyed at the crowd occasionally, AJ and I had SO MUCH FUN hanging out and dancing there until past 2a! We seriously felt so young and accomplished hahaha.

The morning was birthday dayyyyy! We had such a good time, we did everything our hearts desired. We popped open the champagne that Pam and Doug had gotten for me, and then we went poolside in the Bellagio Gardens. It was seriously dreamy.

We took a break to go eat and man did we go for it. A dozen oysters, spiked shakes, lamb gyros and buffalo burgers. AJ snuck away to tell the waiter it was my birthday and I got a free birthday shot! Vegas knows what's up!!

After that we went to AJ's lucky casino (Aria) and had a super fun time at a Blackjack table with our dealers, a small Asian woman and an Australian man. We walked to the Starbucks near Paris to cash in on my free birthday drink, and decided to hang poolside the rest of the afternoon until we needed to leave for the airport. I ended up in the middle of the pool choreographing what will be the next Cirque du Soleil that I plan to create and star in.

It was very sad to leave. We both wanted to just stay another day or two to hang out by the pool.

But alas, it all came to an end eventually. We had a flight back, got picked up by AJ's aunt and then relaxed at his house for just a bit (Anana was sooooo excitedddd it was adorbs) before I headed home, where Khaleesi was nowhere near as excited as Anana was (hater!) and I compiled screenshots of everything saying March 14. Ha!

Oh yeah! I woke up in the morning to 30 text messages! 30! What are the chances??

It's actually all a lie. I woke up to 27 and I told AJ to text me 3 times so I would have 30 texts so he text me: YOU. ARE. CRAZY. Whatever, it got up to 30 so the joke's on him!

BUT, THIS picture really did get 29 likes on my last day of being 29! (It has since gone up).

It went by too fast..!!! I need more birthdays!
