The Wheel of Time: The Eye of the World, Book 1

I've read three books since I last posted anything. I haven't forgotten about them, just took awhile to getting around to doing this.

* * *

There must be a difference in what you saw, it seemed to him, depending on whether you sought adventure or had it forced on you.

...when what they do is hidden, men sometimes deal with strangers in ways they wouldn't if there were other eyes to see. And the quickest to harm a stranger are the soonest to think a stranger will harm them.

You wanted to do it, and at the same time you are afraid of it. And you are stubbornly refusing to let your fear best you.

Let us deal with the problems that face us here and now; everything else must wait.

If you watch the wolf too hard... a mouse will bite you on the ankle.

If wishes were wings, sheep would fly.

You thinking about home already, and you just started out in the world? The world will put a hook in your mouth. You'll set off chasing the sunset... and if you ever go back, your village'll no be big enough to hold you

Think, if you want to stay alive. Fear will kill you if you don't control it.

At last he had what he had been wishing for, but the price was high
