That's how close my wedding is now. My bridal shower at work was today and it was so fun! It was a potluck and some genius also brought in Taco Bell (score!), a beautiful homemade baked cake, and games that I really enjoyed.
There are 3 of us that got engaged right in a row, one girl is February 2019, and me and the other girl are December. I'm the first on December 8, and even though the other girl isn't til the end of the month on the 27th, she's getting married in Israel and is also going to be out for most of the month, so we combined ours. I actually loved some of the attention being off me, and loved that we got a sweetheart table and cut our cake together haha!
Fun twist on an old classic - male models!
Eight days to go! That's probably our lucky number too at this point...
My work travels were supposed to be done with Japan in October, but when a conference appeared in Raleigh of all places, I couldn't say no! One of my favorite places ever, with my favorite person ever... Jayna! And I got to meet the newest addition as of August 14... Annika!
I just love Raleigh, and I loved being able to escape hot, dry California and trade it in for some cold, rainy weather in North Carolina. The conference was pretty great too, I really loved it, but of course my heart was taken with Jayna's little Mini Me!
Modeling our matching outfits
Thanks to Jayna's husband and dad, we also got some "us" time out and about in the city in the evenings, visiting some familiar haunts (Beasley's!) and new ones too (Capital Club mmm).
Leading the Princesses on Parade
"Y'all means all" (mic drop)
I actually couldn't believe it was only 4 days, it felt longer somehow. But, it was a good time. The way back was fraught with problems, however, since that cold front interfered with my incoming plane to leave Raleigh, and then getting into my layover in Chicago, so I ended up being rerouted entirely through Denver and a different airport in California. But, such is the life, and I made it in one piece.
The next night I went with friends up to Los Angeles to celebrate Jyessica's dirty 30th! She has the same birthday as Kathleen, good ol' November 22, which unfortunately this year is directly on Thanksgiving. So, we had a great celebration the weekend before. Selena, Kings Cup, bacon-wrapped hot dogs, giant Connect 4 and all at a fabulous house in Los Feliz.
And now it's nothing but full force ahead to the WEDDING!!!! HOLY MOLY!!! 17 days to go... feels more like 17 minutes with the amount of stuff I have to do before then, including... moving. Yes, we're moving and need to be out this month. 2018 has been the craziest, busiest, most insane year ever. I can't wait until the morning of December 8 when I put it all behind me and go into mental cruise control to get married to my man and then take off to our honeymoon and fully disconnect.
I don't normally post on the weekends anymore. I sit at a computer all day at work so the last thing I want to do is sit on a computer on the weekends. But, I made coffee a few hours ago and even though I'm mostly immune to the effects, it's really keeping me up! So, I get to say HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA! to my grandma who turned 101 on November 6!
A lot of family got to get together at El Torito today to celebrate, and I even had the great honor of sitting next to her during the meal too.
Here's grandma with our branch of the tree...
And here's Khaleesi watching TV with me in the bedroom right now.
Very happy for the three-day weekend, even though I'm just running around taking care of wedding stuff! At least I'll have tomorrow to relax, AJ is going to the Ram's game with friends and I'll just be TCOB'ing (taking care of business...)
Today was something of a triple threat, and we didn't exactly plan it this way. First of all, it's Election Day! I voted early so we would be free this morning. I should have worn my I Voted sticker today so I don't look like a derelict, but I forgot it at home. Womp womp.
Otherwise, AJ and I had an appointment in the morning to get our marriage license!! You can only get it if your ceremony is taking place within 90 days, so you know it's getting real!
Did you know you have to raise your right hand to follow an oath to them? I wish I had been warned, I had no idea and it was very bizarre, lulz!
And of course, gammy turns 101 today!!! I want to put 101 exclamation points but don't want to count those out.
This was taken at my bridal shower. Yes, that is Shannon photoshopped in in the back...
