This winter just keeps going and going, eh? I know it's technically not spring until the end of March but my goodness it's been cold and rainy these past few months. I swear even fall was hardly here before winter swept in. And this storm has been kinda nuts - snow on the Orange County hills? Wild.
Rainy days are some of the worst when you have toddlers, but we managed to scrape through this past weekend with the help of Kiwi, Kathleen and a fun board game café that we found in Anaheim.
On Saturday, I did my morning ballet class, which quite frankly kicked my ass. I hadn't gone to any dance in a few weeks due to Auntie Kit Kat came over and played with us, and we all took a trip to PetSmart to look at the animals, buy some kitty toys, and get Kiwi signed up for shots and neutering (sorry bro!). We also wandered around that plaza and got taro smoothies and visited Claire's, which is sooooo expensive I can't even, but Sophie had fun taking pictures in some of the headbands.
That night we made our own pho and watched SNL which was perfect for a rainy day.
On Sunday we spent enough time at home that I was going nuts, so we decided to try out this board game café that I heard about before. It could use a little bit more of a vibe, but they have thousands of board games and you get to rent a little tent/cabana for your party. And their snacks and drinks? Top notch! Pocky and Lychee Sailor Moon soda aw yeah!
It wasn't totally toddler friendly, but it had ton of games even for Sophie, and we had a lot of fun finding new ones (Penguin Pile-Up!) and revisiting some of our old favorites (Operation! Kerplunk! Hungry Hungry Hippos!) but what was the most disappointing was how we let Sophie pick out the first game and she chose something called Bed Bugs, and she loved it so much, she kept wanting to go back to that game. It was actually fun, but it was grossing me out!
The bed shakes and the tiny silicone bed bugs vibrate and shake everywhere and you're trying to pull all the bugs of your color off... but all the vibrating bed bugs were just aaaaaah! But it was funny how much Sophie loved it.
Back to a rainy week today.
