Guess who went to her first NFL game last night? It wasn't even me, it was Sophie! AJ and I have just been praying and waiting for the Steelers to play the Chargers here in California, and this year it finally happened! We've had it on our calendar since the season lineup was announced. It was the night game, so it wasn't the most convenient for us, but we made do.
It was both of our first times at the new SoFi Stadium (in our house, pronounced Sophie Stadium) and it was pretty awesome, minus a few notable exceptions. It's a really cool feeling that it's covered, but not enclosed. There are openings at the sides. And the screens are huge, and lots of standing room for hanging around and watching the field even if you aren't in your seats. How though, does this bajillion dollar stadium (which believe me, knowing prices for tickets, parking, concessions, gear, etc, it can afford) doesn't have automatic toilets and sinks? Seriously, I thought the manual-handle toilets and sinks were antiquated relics of the past and yet I was confronted with that in the restroom and pretty annoyed. Especially during a pandemic when we shouldn't be touching the surfaces a thousand others have touched too!
The game was pretty awesome, admittedly because they were playing the Steelers so it was sold out. My estimate was more of a 70/30 Steelers/Chargers crowd, so it really added to the atmosphere, even though Chargers led for most of the game. It was a bit of a nailbiter at the end when the Steelers tied in up, but ultimately Chargers won! Aww yeahhhhh.
Sophie did pretty well, all things considered. She's always an observer and loves watching and looking around. But the roar of the crowd often became too much for her and she would cry, so we spent more time hanging around on the platforms rather than the seats, but it was still a great time. And it's fun that her first NFL game was Steelers/Chargers. Won't forget that. (Us... she has probably already forgotten it LOL).
We also went to celebrate our primo Pablito on Saturday, which was a fun time, and on Friday, Priya and her fiance stopped by and we were able to host them for lunch.
It was a pretty eventful weekend, thank goodness it's a short week this week, I need the recovery time.
