Sophie has had a bit of a trim before (do you remember how uneven her hair was as she was growing up?? What a hobo baby LOL)
But we got her first "real" haircut done last weekend. I'm still a bit on the fence about the whole thing. On the one hand, it's pretty expensive for such a slight change (although we got a lot out of it - this kids salon had fun cars for them to sit in, TVs and video games for their distraction - hello yet again Cocomelon - and included a hair bow, a ring, a balloon, and apparently even a manicure if they wanted them?!) but her hair was getting very long, I was noticing it was halfway down her back in the bathtub! And she really hates us dealing with it. Hates the brushing, the washing, etc. So why make all of us miserable? Let's keep it manageable, but long enough to still tie back out of her face (which is what we do 99.99% of the time because otherwise she gets yogurt and peanut butter in it - yuck!) and she did really well!
When I mentioned getting her haircut, I wasn't sure she even knew what it meant (I'm still not sure she knew what I was talking about) but she was super excited and enthusiastic about it and kept talking about it. She was all about it... until of course we show up to the salon. It's very kid-friendly but of course it was still completely new to her.
I watched one exasperated mom have to leave with her kid without getting anything done because the kid would absolutely not cooperate, and I was anticipating that being us, especially when they called her and she started getting nervous and saying no... but she reluctantly followed, and with a super great lady doing her hair and Cocomelon on in front of her, she definitely warmed up and did such a good job.
She chose a pink unicorn hair bow, a quite beautiful mint-green gem ring, and a red a balloon in the end.
I actually look forward to taking her back at some point, but not anytime soon, because it wasn't cheap!
