The Growth of My Sophie Trophy

The series is finally complete, and I can present the entire photographic growth of Sophie in my pregnancy. I remember taking each and every one of these photos, and especially in the earlier days, feeling like there was nothing noticeable at all and it was taking forever and the reality of having her in my arms seemed like so far away... and now looking back, pregnancy felt so fast!

Love you, little miss <3

Little Miss Sophie

Well, I have a baby now. I'm sure this reality will be reflected in the way I update this from now on (aka short, if ever, if this lifestyle all keeps up!)

I had a normal check-up on Friday, November 6, and due to dilation, effacement and blood pressure, my OB sent me over to labor and delivery to essentially deliver immediately! Talk about a whirlwind and mindgames. Labor and delivery was actually so busy, with no free rooms, and I wasn't in an immediate situation, so we all agreed that I would come back first thing in the morning. That was actually a nice little reprieve to wrap my head around the fact that baby girl was coming over a week early. We already had the nursery set up from the week before, so that was a relief.

AJ and I set off the next morning in the rain to go have a baby!

Things progressed so slowly, I was really enjoying just letting things unfold, and each new step set fear into my heart. It took me an hour to agree to let them break my water because I was so scared about the next step and speeding it up, and when I was told I was at 10 centimeters I think I panicked a little. But an hour later, the little lady was here!

Just chillin at this point

I bought AJ this kangaroo shirt for
dads that has been very handy!

So much dark hair!

I waited 9 months for this (thanks Tawny!)

The photo shoot my mom set up LOL

We couldn't get Nannerz to look at the camera

AJ got her ready for game day! (And Steelers had
a great win too)

Post-bath. She wasn't a fan.

FYI, the middle name is Aurelia
(ore-RALE-ya) but we spelt it the
Lithuanian way with the J

...and that's the story all about how my life got turned flip upside down.

Vote!

Who says America isn't progressive? They let whales vote this year.

Here's me casting my ballot for democracy and not fascism!

Four Generations

Well, before AJ and I go into crazy zombie-apocalypse level quarantine (like I haven't been already - eyeroll) I had a chance to visit my grandma for what might have been the first time this year (!!) and definitely the only time since becoming pregnant. It was a special time for her to meet another one of her great-grandchildren, even if in utero!

Her only advice for me was to "hold the nurse's hand". Gee, thanks grammy!

The Work Shower

While virtual has been so hard to adjust to at times, and frankly quite painful at others, I'm surprised how actually fun and refreshing it can be!

Today my work hosted a virtual baby shower for me, and it really was so fun and nice! None of us really ever get to just talk anymore, and our team was kind of notorious for going off on tangents in meetings to hang out and laugh, and going to lunches and all that, and we basically went a whole year without any of it. So, it was nice to play games and have time to just relax and talk and not be working.

I didn't hear them say they were taking the photo haha

The games were fun and they even made me a hardcover book that had been delivered to me earlier this week that I got to open today that was really thoughtful.

As always... another event reminds me how real this is and I have a hard time believing it... it's a month from tomorrow... eek!
