My 23andMe kit is coming along quite nicely. I always check the status in a moment of a mental break. My DNA extraction was completed today and has now moved on to the analysis stage, where it is being read with a genotyping chip.
After this comes quality review, initial raw data processing, and then computation and report generation, aka I get to know everything!
It's probably mean of me to be advertising all of this when I probably won't advertise any of the results. Well, we'll see how I'm feeling.

Happy Easter
I had a three-day weekend because of Cesar Chavez day. My day off was really nice; sleeping in, shopping, and seeing My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (I obsessed with the first movie!) which was super cute. Literally EV-ER-Y-ONE from the first one was back, that was the most impressive part!
On Saturday, I headed down to San Diego in time to pick up AJ from the train station before we went to Pam and Doug's. His train ended up being delayed (don't get me started on public transit in this country) and I killed time by wandering around Old Town, where I ended up buying some essential oils - one blend smells like an orange creamsicle, and one of the roller-ball ones is an ENERGY blend which I swear was working. Probably placebo effect, but that's fine by me!
We had a really fun evening. We hung out and had drinks and then walked to dinner at a British pub before going to the comedy show next door, which was a good time. They wouldn't take one of my suggestions and instead changed it to toothpaste pshhhh. When we got back we put on Wolf of Wall Street, which Pam and Doug LOVE, and I really enjoy, and AJ had never seen. We had to stop it to go to bed since it's so long.
In the morning I went for a run, Pam and Doug picked up donuts from donut bar, and then we finished Wolf of Wall Street over donuts and coffee. Look at how cute these are!
Then, we went to Doug's parents for the huge Easter celebration! I can't believe I didn't take pictures - the place was decked out beautifully and there was Easter candy, drinks and appetizers everywhere while the meal was finishing up, then we had an Easter egg hunt (I GUESS Pam won!) and sat down to a beautiful meal with homemade bread (in the shape of bunnies!) and ham and turkey and casseroles and salads and asparagus and vegetables and the works! AJ and I had to leave early so he could catch his train back, and we got our place setting Easter baskets, the eggs we found in the hunt (6 hardboiled and 1 plastic prize egg) and another entire Easter basket with a plant and goodies. It was so much fun!
Oh, and my cousin announced that she's pregnant too.
I've kinda forgot Easter was even a thing, but this made it fun again!

Longtime Photos
Day off! This weekend, AJ and I are going to San Diego to celebrate Easter with our friends, complete with dinner and an Easter egg hunt at the family house. So that reminded me that just recently, I finally got to see the pictures from the wedding last November! The San Diego Zoo was such a great venue, everything really looks beautiful.
This oversaturation of the digital age is hard to deal with. Like, here are a million great photos! What the heck are you supposed to do with them all? Gone are the days of disposable cameras with 32 exposures and you'd be lucky to get a really good one every other roll or so worth blowing up. Not to mention, you really had to save every exposure for something good. You know, I miss those times. Not so many useless pictures of people's food or bathroom selfies!
