Water World

While I am very happy for California and all the rain we've been getting this year, AJ and I were not unscathed by it, and our bedroom flooded while we were in Arizona. This led to us needing to clear out our bedroom for what turned out to be a week, in order for the carpet people to do their work, let it dry out, and then clean it. We've been having a living room slumber party during this time, which we actually loved having the bed out there, it was the rest of the junk everywhere that was annoying. The best part was logging into the Petcube every day and being able to see animals. First I logged in and saw this

Then the next time I logged in, I saw this

They had traded places!

Of course we didn't know we were going to have to be out there that long at first, we just had the bed propped up out in the living room and when I logged in I saw this and almost meltedddd

Kutey! But Khaleesi sure did enjoy the empty bedroom when it was around...

So anyways, we continued our slumber party over the weekend and played our new game (my favorite game!) in bed while watching movies and having the animals around.

When everything was solved and we were able to move back into the bedroom, AJ and I were laboring away, and the first thing we did was put in the bed. When we were dragging in more things and stumbling around the hallway and into the bedroom, we come in to see this

Those little brats wasted no time in settling themselves right in as soon as that bed was up! Ha. Whatevs. In other news we had a brunch on Sunday for the sendoff of our friend going to move to South Carolina to meet up with her husband who has been there for a few months now.

We went to a place with bottomless mimosas that destroyed me, then afterwards went back to a friends place for ping pong, karaoke, blackjack, and pizza and more mimosas that had me hungover before we even left. It was a Sunday Funday for sureeee but that makes today and Monday Sadday...

Disneyland, Arizona

AJ and I were celebrating our anniversary which was last week, and we ended up having a full-on days-worth of celebrations, which makes this rainy Monday very, very hard to deal with and also very, very sad.

Anyways, it started on Wednesday night when we used a Groupon that I had been gifted to go to a trampoline park nearby. We reserved latest hour jump time they had, and with the rains just starting that evening, we pretty much had our run of the place, which was awesome. Stunt bags, foam cube pits, basketball dunk shoots, dodgeball courses, and more!

It was a really fun break from our usual activities. On Thursday we had been planning to go to Disneyland with our Christmas gift tickets, but monitoring the weather all week, it was like 100% supposed to pour all day on Thursday. Well in the morning as AJ is telling me goodbye as he's heading out to work (I had already requested the day off and planned to use it regardless) he mentioned how it was, of course, a clear sky with only a 30% chance of rain in the evening. I said, can you still call off work? And within an hour we had dropped Anana off, made some Irish coffees, and were on the road to Disneyland!

Talk about the best time to go... EVER. That place was EMPTY. We didn't wait for ANYTHING. I mean seriously. Here's an example of how it was... after walking straight on to Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean we decide to go to Indiana Jones and we were so disgusted with the 20 minute wait there that we decided to get Fast Passes and then made our way to Thunder Mountain. We did EVERYTHING we set out to do AND MORE. Seriously, I think we did everything there was to do, from all the big rides down to classic Fantasyland gems like Alice in Wonderland and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, to the ones you never do, like Storybook Land and Nemo's Submarine and even Toon Town. It was awesome. Plus we got churros and Gibson Girl ice cream sooooo it was a pretty perfect day!

In the evening we went and had dinner at Bubba Gump's. I've never been a huge fan, but AJ and I have been a few times and I'm really starting to love that place. The best part was going home, cuddling in the rain and knowing we were leaving for vacation the next day anyway.

On Friday, a little later than we would have wanted, we had packed up our bags and the dog and were on the road in the pouring rain to Sedona. It rained the entire drive out there, which was annoying, not least of all because it delayed the trip, but when we got to Sedona it turned into snow, which was magical.

The landscape was breathtakingly beautiful, especially in the snow, and Anana just loved it. She was like the weird kid in class who always eats paste... she wouldn't stop eating the snow, and loved running in it. When we went out hiking and had to take our times stone-stepping across the creeks and rivers, she went running straight through and would turn around and watch us like she couldn't understand why we were taking so long. Everywhere had a view too, the restaurants and coffee shops and everything.

Sedona's Women's March - LOVE IT!
We made sure to leave in enough time to hit some sights in Arizona on the way home. First in Sedona was the Chapel of the Holy Cross, which is pretty bare-bones and simple inside, and just neat to see the architecture from the outside built into the rocks.

Then we stopped by Montezuma's Castle National Park, which we learned was entirely a misnomer. Basically when the white men found it, they just assumed it was connected to Montezuma and was a castle, and somehow that name stuck and is still around, but really it was simple dwelling places for the native peoples, and was literally referred to as "a high-rise apartment building of it's day" ha!

We then made it to Phoenix in time to stop for lunch and watch the first half of the Packers/Falcons game. I ordered a Bloody Mary and whatever that thing was, it knocked me out. I sucked down two of them without batting an eye and it all hit me at once afterwards. I was supposed to be the one to drive next, but wasn't able to. That's how AJ got this picture of Anana in the backseat... but you can see me passed out in the front.

We listened to the Steelers/Patriots on the radio and were very sad for the Steeler's for AJ's sake, but at least we had this beautiful desert view along the way.

Got home late, put in some Indiana Jones, and were knocked out early. On this fabulous Monday morning I even went to leave and my car wouldn't start so we had to jump it. Here's to getting through this week somehow...
